The elemental spells of Duel of Wizards are built around four ancient forces:

• Fire
• Water

Each element has its own character. Fire is aggressive and destructive; Water is flexible and unpredictable; Earth is steady and enduring; Air is swift and elusive.

More than a simple power value

What makes Elemental Magic special is that the spell that looks strongest does not always win.

The relationships between elements can change the outcome of a clash. The right attacking element can grant an advantage, while a poor choice can weaken the attack.

Important: elemental modifiers only ever affect the attacking spell. An elemental relationship does not change the defending spell’s strength.

The “Elemental Relationships” reference card shows how the elements interact. Use it to see which element has an advantage, which is at a disadvantage and when a clash remains neutral.

Not all magic is elemental

Dark Magic and Blood Magic are outside the elemental system. They seek to overcome opponents in other ways and receive no elemental modifiers.
